My thought for the day

I wanted to see more of Clare Balding on the olympics coverage but they have stuck her in the horse park in Hong Kong.

TV of the Day

Olympics am to pm.

Fave Beer

image

Cumberland Ale 4.0% ABV
(4.2% ABV in 500ml bottle)

A superb golden coloured ale, brewed with malt made from specially selected Maris Otter barley and using only the finest English aromatic hops.

Traditionally brewed for over a hundred years, using pure Lakeland water drawn from the brewery's own well.

A full flavoured beer with a delicate hop character, makes this beer ideal for the demanding, modern beer drinker.

Cumberland Ale has become a firm favourite nationwide and is Jennings best selling brand outside the Lake District.

Fave Sounds

Meiko-Boys with Girlfriends (beautiful brilliant song!)

PJ Harvey (though have not got the latest album)
Natalie Merchant
Delays
Kirsty MacColl

Also Like:
Madonna
Dolly Parton
Jeff Buckley

Guilty Pleasure:

My Bio

From the mean streets of East Anglian a council estate to the heights of a provincial HE institution, it has been a tale to rival any Danielle Steele novel. All away along there has been cheap beer, laughter and of course Kate's music. I have recently relocated and enjoy a more pastoral setting which allows me to indulge in my usual hobbies (see below. go on I bet you can't wait!) and that makes me one happy chicken loving, cat stroking, Jenning swigging, Regatta wearing ladeee (as the kids say).

My Hobbies

Japanese sculpture, snow boarding, rare orchid collecting. Just kidding I indulge in the following most unglamourous exercises in leisure (in no particular order):
1. Watching televison
2. Walking, nay tramping across the countryside, fave places to walk are near by my pad but also the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales.Val-da-ree, val-da-raa...
3. Following such walk with fine real ale, a pint of Bob's Fart goes down a treat.
4. Gardening, I am rubbish but nothing will stop me as I fiddle around with seeds and muck about with manure to my hearts content (don't get me started on composting).
5. Look after the animals: 2 fish, 2 hens and one cat. These are two castrated billy goats over the road that don't belong to me but I take an unhealthy interest in them from time to time.
6. Spend too much time listening to Kate, thinking about Kate and pontificating on the Homeground site, where upon I come across lovely sane peeps who make me laugh and bring me much joy (as someone I know would say).

I think that just about covers my cosmopolitan and exciting life.

At last, the remenants of an old water feature in the patio (from previous owners) has been restored with a help of rellies (you didn't think I could do it?). It did mean that 3 frogs that had made a home in the water had to be evicted before we cab put the pump in (lets hope they return) but now I have the tinkling of water to listen to lovely though it does make me want the loo.

  4. Lushy and bushy

    06/22/08 08:35:16 | 2 Comments

Things are looking good in the green house looking lushy and bushy. Even stuff in the raised beds which have not been as successful as I would have liked are not doing bed. I pulled my first spring onion which was great. Plus the potatos which I thought were doomed are actually ok, they have been chewed by slugs and butterflies which has not helped but the little babies have given me some sliver or is it slither (?) of gold. Behold:

  6. Merry Morris men and Ladys

    06/12/08 01:57:36 | 0 Comments

Well a lovely sight on a English late spring evening is the morris men and ladys who were dancing outside the local pub. Being over the road, we had a ring side seat and was a lovely to watch. They did a fertility dance and grabbed a young maiden but it all seemed in good spirit. Anyway we enjoyed it.image
  7. Are the pots. going to pots?!

    05/30/08 07:48:47 | 0 Comments

The latest pics from the greenhouse show that things are ticking along well the tomatoes doing well, Courgettes branching out. The salad leaves are fab I have already tried them and I am very pleased by the taste, so let's hope they keep going. However (sad music like that used on X Factor or Britain's Got Talent to punctuate the moment someone's dreams are crushed like a slipon crushing a snail) the Potatoes are so far a real disappointment. I think they are b*ggered. At first I...

    05/08/08 02:28:43 | 2 Comments

There has been a flurry of activity in my green house in my raised beds. Quite literally things are blooming but it is as Jimmy Savile would say that's only the start of it.

Slap your peepers on my raised beds (they are tiny) the first one we have pots coming through with some broccali. Second onion with carrot seedlings as well. The third one more broccali with some beetroot seedlings. In the green house we have: corriander, basil and some tomatoes growing. Need to: set up grow...

By crikey, you'll be usurping young Christine at this rate, and having your own perennial patch made into a TV series for the Beeb (with Lillie's lettuces outshining Reg's plums by a mile).
I hope your frogs are enjoying their power shower of a morning (if they ever return).
The water feature looks a cracker.

    I WILL email you, honestly!
